This is Strip-0.5i export This distribution is based on Strip code that did not contain any cryptographic code. The crypto code was added outside the US, using cryptographic libraries that are freely available outside the United States of America. It is distributed from outside the US (The Netherlands) and should therefore not be subject to export limitations. Upgrading from 0.4 to 0.5 ------------------------- Due to a bug in the previous export versions (wrong endian-ness in the MD5 hashes) the database of the export version was incompatible with the US version. This bug has been fixed, but as a consequence the 0.4i database of the export version is now incompatible with the format used in version 0.5i. A separate program "StripFix" is included which can convert the database between version 0.5i and the 0.4i export version. This program ONLY converts Idea encrypted databases. If you are using 3-way encryption see below. Upgrading from 0.4i export to 0.5i export ----------------------------------------- The procedure is as follows: - Remove StripCS from your Pilot (if it was installed) - Install Strip 0.5 on the Pilot - Install StripFix on the Pilot - Run StripFix on the Pilot - Select "0.4i export -> 0.5i" - Enter your password - Tap on "Re-crypt" - The database will be converted and a pop-up box will ask you to reset the pilot. - After the reset you can start the new Strip 0.5. - The StripFix program can now be removed from the Pilot Upgrading from 0.4t export to 0.5i export ----------------------------------------- The procedure is as follows: - Install the StripCS program that came with the 0.4i distribution on your Pilot (if it was not already there) - Start StripCS and convert from 3-way to Idea - After the Pilot is reset you can continue as described above in "Upgrading from 0.4i export to 0.5i export" Good luck, Paul Schuurmans schuur@mesa.nl |
