The small town of Juuma is situated close to one of the nicer sections of the Karhunkierros trail. This can be walked as a day hike, called Pieni Karhunkierros ("The Little Bear's Ring") and unlike the real Karhunkierros this actually is a circular trail. It will lead you past Myllykoski rapids and the spectacular Jyrävä waterfall and some very beautiful views. I decided to walk this trail in one day as a final test before going on to the real Karhunkierros, and I enjoyed it immensely. And again I met some very nice people on the way.
