Finally, the last part of Karhunkierros that I did not hike yet was the Ristikallio to Taivalköngäs section, because I started the northern section at Hautajärvi. As it is a fairly short distance from the Ristikallio trailhead to Taivalköngäs I decided to go on to Oulangan Kanjoni ("Canyon of Oulanka") and spend the night there in Savilampi hut. Oulangan Kanjoni is one of the most spectacular sights along the Karhunkierros trail, if you take the effort to climb up there. Choose either the north or the south side for different views. The next day I walked back at a very leisurely pace and stayed one more night in the Ristikallio hut. This is one of the most beautiful locations to watch the sunset and sunrise. I again met some very nice people there, which is one of the nice things of staying overnight in those huts.
